An AI decision agent for service businesses on Xero. Each week it reads your Xero data, surfaces the few client and revenue moves worth making — the client going quiet, the one you're under-pricing, the cash you're leaking — and drafts the first action for each.
Rise of the Builder: The Xero App & Agent Hackathon
Customer Compass won the Cashflow Accelerator category — the category judged by Xero themselves — coming top of a field of 122 builders and 61 entries.

See it in action.
A tour of the dashboard, running on a UK demo organisation. Compass works in your Xero organisation's own currency — £, $, €, and every territory Xero serves. Explore it yourself at customercompass.ai/demo.

Your customers and cash at a glance — headline KPIs, a 90-day cash flow forecast, and a concentration stress test that simulates your top client walking away.

The ranked act-now worklist — each insight with its financial impact, the drafted action, a one-click "Do it in Xero" path, and a plain-English note on what happens when you approve.

KPIs and business metrics adapted to your business type — MRR, ARR, retention, growth and bookings, each with a plain-English explanation and a health flag.

Client pillars and segments — who carries your revenue, how concentrated it is, and every client grouped Keep / Grow / Renegotiate / Review, mirrored back into Xero tags.
Not another dashboard. A prioritised, act-now worklist.
Reporting tools show you charts you have to interpret. Customer Compass tells you which clients to keep, grow, renegotiate or let go — and takes the first step for you.
Ranked Act-Now List
One card per insight: the headline, the plain-English "why", the impact in your currency, and the client, invoice or quote it refers to — deep-linked into Xero and ranked by what it's worth to you.
Drafted First Actions
Every insight arrives with the first step already drafted — the chase email, the price note, the re-engagement message — ready to review, edit, and send.
Acts Inside Xero
With one click and your approval, Compass executes the action in Xero — sends the reminder, creates the quote, tags the client, logs the decision. Idempotent and audit-trailed.
Keep / Grow / Renegotiate
A segments view groups your clients into Keep, Grow, Renegotiate and Review — mirrored back into Xero contact groups so your books reflect your strategy.
Deterministic maths. AI only writes the words.
Every metric, ranking and figure is computed in code and unit-tested — the AI never invents a number. The model writes the plain-English explanation and drafts the action, so the figures are auditable and the words are human.
Xero MCP Server + REST API
Compass reads your organisation through the Xero AI Toolkit's MCP server, with a REST fallback via the official SDK — the dual-transport approach the hackathon judges singled out as robust.
24 Signals Across Your Business
Cash and working capital, portfolio health, revenue quality, pricing, service mix, cost and procurement, and owner signals — from silent churn and revenue-at-risk to price ceilings and zombie subscriptions.
The First Step, Written for You
Each insight carries a drafted email, price note or tag proposal. Advisory with reasoning, never a blunt verdict — cost-to-serve is labelled an explicit proxy, and nothing is presented as more certain than it is.
Human-Approved Writeback
Actions execute in Xero only when you approve them. Writeback is off by default, idempotent so nothing fires twice, audit-trailed to Xero's own history, and never moves money or deletes records.
Built for businesses that bill by time or project.
If your revenue lives in day rates, retainers and project invoices, the act-now moments are buried in your Xero data. Customer Compass surfaces them.
Consultants
Spot the high-value client who's expensive to serve, the one who's gone quiet, and the day rate that's drifted below the market — before they cost you a quarter's profit.
Agencies
See which accounts to grow and which to renegotiate, where your quote win-rate drops off by value band, and how much revenue is concentrated in too few clients.
Freelancers & Trades
Know when you're financing your clients, when drawings outpace profit, and which lapsed customers are worth a re-engagement email — each one already drafted.
Accountants & Advisors
Run Compass across the service-business clients you manage and walk into every review meeting with the three decisions that matter most, backed by auditable maths.
Frequently Asked Questions
Those tools are reporting — charts you go and read, then interpret yourself. Customer Compass is a decision agent: it finds the few act-now moments buried in your data, ranks them by financial impact, drafts the action, and — once you approve — executes it in Xero. Reports tell you what happened; Compass tells you what to do this week and takes the first step. They're complementary, and you can happily run both.
No. Writeback is off by default, and every action requires your explicit approval before it runs. Actions are idempotent — an approval can't fire twice — and every one is audit-trailed to Xero's own history. Compass never moves money and never deletes records; the action set is limited to things like sending an invoice reminder, creating a quote, tagging a contact group, or logging a note.
No — and this is the core design decision. Every metric, ranking and figure is computed deterministically in code and covered by unit tests. The AI model is only used to write the plain-English explanation and draft the action text. The figures are auditable and reproducible; the AI never invents a number, and if the model is unavailable there's always a deterministic fallback.
Twenty-four signals across seven areas: cash and working capital (cash-conversion cycle, collections triage), portfolio health (silent churn, keep/renegotiate decisions, reactivation shortlists), revenue quality (revenue-at-risk, concentration risk), pricing (price ceilings, unproductive discounts, rate dispersion), service mix, cost and procurement (zombie subscriptions, supplier concentration), and owner signals like drawings-versus-profit and break-even billable days.
Customer Compass has been submitted to the Xero App Marketplace and is going through Xero's certification review. The public listing goes live once that completes. In the meantime you can find out more at customercompass.ai, or register your interest and we'll let you know the moment it launches.
Customer Compass won the Cashflow Accelerator category of "Rise of the Builder: The Xero App & Agent Hackathon" — the category judged chiefly by Xero themselves — coming top of a field of 122 builders and 61 entries. The judges highlighted its innovative use of Xero data across multiple dimensions, its robust use of both the MCP server and the REST API, and an excellent, polished UI.
